Utilization of greenhouse gas as resource in EOR and storage it underground

Shen Pingping,Jiang Huaiyou

Strategic Study of CAE 2009, Volume 11, Issue 5,   Pages 54-59

Abstract:

Global warming is the most serious environmental problem that we ever had. One of the reasons for that focus on the mass emission of greenhouse gas has made the cosmopolitan warming problem more and more serious. It is such a great threaten to our environment that the international community must take active and effective measures. In 2006, a 973 project named "Research for Utilizing Greenhouse Gas as Resource in EOR and Storaging It Underground "  was authorized by The Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China. The researches include establishing a system suits China`s national conditions and sequestrate CO2 effectively, obtaining society benefit from reducing CO2 emission and obtaining economic benefit from CO2 utilization, developing CO2 storage theories, phase state of multiphase and multicomponent mixtures, nonlinear percolation mechanisms of multiphase and multicomponent mixtures and CO2 capture & transport.. In China the CO2 sequestration security and the efficient use of research is at the international level. From those basic researches above, it is expected to get state owned CO2 storage and utilization technology, which will be served as useful theory and practice basis for efficiently global resource & environment development and sustainable development.

How do project-oriented organizations enhance innovation? An institutional theory perspective

Frontiers of Engineering Management   Pages 427-438 doi: 10.1007/s42524-023-0258-0

Abstract: A project-oriented organization is a hybrid form of organization where a functional hierarchy is augmented with structures to manage projects strategically across the organization. Six project-oriented organizations from diverse industries that emphasize innovation in their strategies were selected for this study. We use the three pillars of institutional theory — regulative, normative and cultural-cognitive — and institutional entrepreneurship to analyze interview data from executive and project, program and portfolio management personnel in the project-oriented organizations to investigate how innovation is facilitated through external influences and internal responses. Our findings indicate that processes and new structures provide effective ways for innovation and, while individuals are important, processes are more effective than individuals at enabling innovation. We put forward some lessons for practice that emerge directly from the findings, including suggestions on improving allocation of resources, a need to focus on processes, reconceptualization of “failure”, and dedicated investment in market knowledge, customer knowledge, performance metrics and flexible governance structures.

Surface modification by ligand growth strategy for dense copper bismuth film as photocathode to enhance

Frontiers in Energy doi: 10.1007/s11708-023-0893-5

Abstract: Hydrogen production from photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting has been regarded as a promising way to utilize renewable and endless solar energy. However, semiconductor film grown on photoelectrode suffers from numerous challenges, leading to the poor PEC performance. Herein, a straightforward sol-gel method with the ligand-induced growth strategy was employed to obtain dense and homogeneous copper bismuthate photocathodes for PEC hydrogen evolution reaction. By various characterizations, it was found that the nucleation and surface growth of CuBi2O4 layer induced by 2-methoxyethanol ligand (2-CuBi2O4) demonstrated a decent crystallinity and coverage, as well as a large grain size and a low oxygen vacancy concentration, leading to the good ability of light absorption and carrier migration. Consequently, under simulated sunlight irradiation (AM1.5G, 100 mW/cm2), the 2-CuBi2O4 photocathode achieved an enhanced photocurrent density of −1.34 mA·cm−2 at 0.4 V versus the reversible hydrogen electrode and a promising applied bias photon-to-current efficiency of 0.586%. This surface modification by ligand growth strategy will shed light on the future design of advanced photoelectrodes for PEC water splitting.

Enhance the Protection System of Primary Cultivated Land to Promote Sustainable Prosperity of the Chinese

Li Boheng

Strategic Study of CAE 2004, Volume 6, Issue 3,   Pages 1-5

Abstract:

There is limited agricultural land but large population in China. Along with the rapid economic development, large area of agricultural land is converted to be nonagricultural use by numerous projects every year. There is obvious conflict between population growth and agricultural land reduction. In order to support sustainable economic development, the Chinese Government has decided to implement the protection system of primary agricultural land. Class 1 and Class 2 of high quality agricultural land is defined based on the detailed rural land survey. These higher quality agricultural lands are listed as primary agricultural land and protected with strict regulations. The primary agricultural land protection system is one of the basic conditions to support sustainable development and prosperity of China.

Nitrogen-doped graphene approach to enhance the performance of a membraneless enzymatic biofuel cell

Alireza AHMADIAN YAZDI, Jie XU

Frontiers in Energy 2018, Volume 12, Issue 2,   Pages 233-238 doi: 10.1007/s11708-018-0529-3

Abstract: Heteroatom-doping of pristine graphene is an effective route for tailoring new characteristics in terms of catalytic performance which opens up potentials for new applications in energy conversion and storage devices. Nitrogen-doped graphene (N-graphene), for instance, has shown excellent performance in many electrochemical systems involving oxygen reduction reaction (ORR), and more recently glucose oxidation. Owing to the excellent sensitivity of N-graphene, the development of highly sensitive and fast-response enzymatic biosensors is made possible. However, a question that needs to be addressed is whether or not improving the anodic response to glucose detection leads to a higher overall performance of enzymatic biofuel cell (eBFC). Thus, here we first synthesized N-graphene via a catalyst-free single-step thermal process, and made use of it as the biocatalyst support in a membraneless eBFC to identify its role in altering the performance characteristics. Our findings demonstrate that the electron accepting nitrogen sites in the graphene structure enhances the electron transfer efficiency between the mediator (redox polymer), redox active site of the enzymes, and electrode surface. Moreover, the best performance in terms of power output and current density of eBFCs was observed when the bioanode was modified with highly doped N-graphene.
